What is ROAR?
We are a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO) set up to support those affected by addiction.
We offer a unique, empathetic approach to recovery support. Our services are person focused and tailored to the needs of the individual and the community we serve.
Whether it be connections to traditional recovery services, advocacy, social support or even fun sober activities; we offer a diverse range of support options that empower individuals to create lasting change in their own lives.
We CARE
Connection - Bringing Connection to all those affected by addiction through activities, events and mutual aid networks
Advocacy - Championing lived experience views at a strategic level and advocating for individuals engaging with support services
Recovery - Delivering expert recovery coaching and peer support to support long-term recovery
Employment - Providing Training and support through our volunteer pathway giving transferable experience and skills to aid sustainable employment
Our
Values
At ROAR we recognise that recovery looks different for every individual and understand the importance in our work of including those who do not wish to be abstinent.
We are passionate about harm reduction, aiming to meet individuals where they’re at and subsequently ensure we do all we can to manage the risks associated with alcohol/substance use.
SMART Recovery Fundraiser
We are working to bring more options to the people of Kent who want to find recovery from addiction.
In this case we are bringing SMART recovery meetings to 6 towns across Kent - Thanet, Canterbury, Dover, Maidstone, Ashford & Folkestone
SMART champions choice and provides a ‘toolbox’ of methods demonstrated in educational meetings that empower people to choose to change.
We are now beginning the process of training our volunteers to run the meetings.
